I’m currently looking for work
I'm seeking new opportunities
Based in Norway: offering services in web development and photography.
I'm open for full time employment or freelance projects.
If you'd like to discuss potential opportunities or collaboration, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
There’s something familiar about this…
Life is full of unexpected turns. Sometimes these moments highlight a pattern I never noticed before, making me think I should have seen them coming. I prefer to look back at recent events like a comedically anticlimactic training montage, rather than as a needlessly downbeat ending. In a movie, you’d roll your eyes at the predictability.
I won’t go into detail on the whole thing, but it started with a furlough in April 2020 that gave me time to rediscover my love of coding, and led me to go back to college. This resulted in a job that further cemented my love of coding, and that job has now, ironically, furloughed me again.
The full story can wait for another post, but the point is I’m a developer and I’m currently seeking work.
What I offer
I have a degree in front-end development, focusing on modern web technologies like React, foundational HTML and CSS, REST APIs, hosting and deployment, and UX/Design theory. I’m currently employed as a web developer with a company building a customer feedback application. Lots of charts and graphs and data display, and we also recently built a richly featured social platform for our users from the ground up, working closely alongside the back-end team, which was pretty cool.
This job has given me good experience sinking my teeth into and understanding complex legacy code, and working with good old fashioned JavaScript. My formal title is front-end developer, but my work tasks have lead me all up and down the stack. From tweaking CSS, to fixing or creating new SQL templates to pull data straight from the tap.
In my own time I still use React, mostly within the Next.js framework. I got to grips with separating client-side from server-side concerns and building on the latest app router, and now I find such an intuitive framework for quickly getting some quite advanced functionality up and running. For this blog’s back-end, I’m running a headless WordPress as a REST api.
Let’s Connect
I’ll keep this short, as I still have a lot of work to do. One thing is the website. Hopefully I’ve been able to make it slightly more presentable and usable by the time it goes live, but if you’re reading this close to publishing chances are you’re going to encounter some general weirdness.
The other thing is I now have quite a few job applications to write, and those take time.
(Note to any recruiters visiting, please view bugs and errors as opportunities to discuss technical improvements 😉 )
As I continue refining my skills and navigating the twists of my professional path, I’m on the lookout for opportunities that challenge me and allow me to contribute meaningfully to a team. If you need a diligent and creative developer who can juggle multiple aspects of the tech stack, let’s get in touch. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and dive into new projects.
